I think its a good idea to make those mountains more snowy Frustration, would make it look more alive.

And Perynne I think I indeed need more blues. The thing is, I noticed this weekend (when it snowed alot) that snow gives some orangepinkish (a bit of a salmon/crabsalad kind of colour ) reflection when its dark, so wanted to put some of that into it (you can also see it in the clouds). But perhabs such reflection is only because of the streetlight?

Yeah, snow reflects things around it very easily. So it only has the crabcolour if there's artificial light/sunset/some other kind of yellowish orange light.

In your painting, I think some blues from the sky would work. And if the clouds reflect sunlight a little, you can also put some of that on the snow since the light would bounce off from the clouds into the ground.

http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm <- Check out that page for a nice radiosity/light reflect tutorial.

I won't be able to finish anything for the Wintersday Workshop, I'm leaving on holiday in a week and there is no way I'll be able to get anything done this week.

Good luck to everyone, the works in progress looks really lovely so far, can't wait to see how they will all look at the end. ^_^

btw, your picture looks interesting, can't wait to see more

Pardon me asking, but how can baby Dwayna hold a toy that resembles herselve (I assumed) at older age? Timetravel?

Huzzah, I have progress!

I decided that to get the proper stylized look I want for the posters, simply manipulating the concept art isn't going to cut it. So instead what I'm going to do is make a vector base, and then use that to draw/paint in the details. Hopefully it will give me the look I want.

And as such, here is Dwayna, in vectorized color blob form. Yes, her face looks weird, and the colors aren't exact. I just wanted the shapes and base colors in for this, as a base to work off of.

Eastern, I only have one word to describe my thoughts: Awesome. She's beautifully and realistically drawn and the mini polar bear is ever so cute :3

Verene, not weird, stylistic. The vector form looks very good so far, can't wait to see more detail.

Flying Ninja, you may want to add an "an" article in the bubble saying "Yet another child wants AN Oppressor's Shield." Other than that it looks really nice, I like the details on the pic Also, sorry for being a grammar n*zi. I just am a grammar n*zi and I can't get rid of the habit.

Keep up the great work, fellows

@Flying Monk: Funny idea, I like it. Like Frustration said, you might want to add an "an" in there. Beside that you might want to give some more attention to the part thats holding the scroll (with I guess all the kids wishes on it). I think if you turned the scroll a bit more towards the viewer it would come out better. Also I think her upper arms are a bit too long

@Magik: Looking good ^^ Alot better then the previous version. However the mouth still bugs me I think her left mouth corner should be a bit higher and a bit more visible (darker) to give her more of a kind warm (sofly smiling) look. Same goes with the other mouth corner I guess, perhabs a small darker area around it to make it look more like a smile:

Also I don't know if its just to show us the detailed part and the full img part, but I really like the picture as it is now, so a part of dwayna's face zoomed in, and a more zoomed out part. You might want to consider keeping it a bit like this, at least I really like it (but Anet always seems to disagree with me, based on the results of previous contests xD)

@Verene: Don't know what your up to, but really curious to see progress Can't wait

Hello, long time no see.

A little update. I was successfully able to record piano playing, but wasn't able to record for flute, piccolo, and voice just yet. I hope to be able to record flute one sometime this week, and piccolo sometime next week.

I'm not satisfied with the lyrics I came up with, especially on the second half.

This is approximately how the original goes:

This is the lyrics I came up:

I also have the quick sketches of some of the pictures I will be including in the video:

zomg wintersday workshop!! is it that time again already? life what have you done to me??!
*runs back to page1 to check entry deadline*
I'll be heading home for a rather extended christmas break this saturday, and perhaps life becomes a bit more relaxed in the next couple of weeks. I'd really hate to miss this I've been so lazy with painting lately :///

Ah well. No promises but I shall give this some thought I'm still rather proud of what I did for last year's workshop and perhaps it's time to challenge myself again.

also, AWESOME WORK PEOPLE! so much amazing stuff going on!

MORAG <333

And haha, Tommy, I'm trying to do a set of propaganda posters (like, one for Dwayna and one for Grenth). A lot tend to be rather stylized, and I like stylized art myself.
